Potters Bar V had a mixed day at the crease. After winning the toss and deciding to bat we started extremely well. Ben Scarisbrick and Steven Brown pushed the opening partenship on to 152 before Ben losing his wicket. Daniel followed just after but unfortunately the rest of the lads failed to follow in such a commendable start. A fine 30 by Sam Titmus batting at 7 pushed Potters Bar on to a respectable 216 all out off 49 overs. Tea was had and the boys thought we had it in the bag, unfortunately this was not the case. Steve Brown and Sam Titmus opened the bowling and struggled to get wickets. Quite a few decisions didn’t go are way but the end result was that we gave away 45 wides and no-balls to the opposition which is something we must improve on in our next fixture if we really believe we can go up next year. Hoddesdon reached the holy grail of 217 in 50 overs and succeeded in winning the match. I feel it was a very gutsy performance from the lads and a very appreciable 15 points were picked up for us. Once again the 5ths have done a 100 over innings and I think this will help us all to progress with our game, colts and the seniors. Congratulations to all that played, learn from our mistakes and the league is ours next year.
